Robert Jungk

Robert Jungk (1913 to 1994) was a writer and futurist. He invented the future workshop, founded the library for futures questions in Salzburg that is today the Robert Jungk Library and received the Right Livelihood Award in 1986. He stood for futures studies that involves citizens. For him, the future was a matter for everyone affected, too important for expert panels alone.

His book “Zukunftswerkstätten” (future workshops), written with Norbert R. Müllert (1981), is still a foundation today. In Salzburg, the Robert Jungk Library continues his work.

The youngk collective, which Jonas Drechsel co-founded, is named after Jungk. He was a scholarship holder at the Robert Jungk Library and trained as a future workshop facilitator with Hans Holzinger.
