The 3K: Kompetenz, Konstruktion, Kommunikation
The 3K are the organising principle of youngk's knowledge base: Kompetenz (competence), Konstruktion (construction), Kommunikation (communication). Competence means theory-based futures literacy, construction the methods, communication the impact through reports, prototypes, events and community. The three terms sort what the collective knows, how it works and how its results reach the outside world. New building blocks find their place this way.
Competence comes from science, construction from futures studies, communication from design futuring.
The knowledge base of the collective Jonas Drechsel co-founded sorts 52 building blocks: 16 on competence, 20 on construction, 16 on communication. This glossary explains many of them individually, such as scenario, horizon scanning and futures wheel.
